01 What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that are stored on your device (computer, phone, or tablet) when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to website owners.
Similar technologies include:
- Session storage — temporary data stored in your browser for the duration of a tab session.
- Local storage — persistent data stored in your browser until explicitly cleared.
- Server-side sessions — session identifiers stored on our servers, referenced by a cookie in your browser.
This policy covers all of these technologies collectively referred to as "cookies."
02 Types of Cookies We Use
Bookchair does not use advertising, retargeting, or third-party tracking cookies.
03 Specific Cookies We Set
The following table lists the cookies Bookchair sets directly:
04 Third-Party Services
Some third-party services we use may also set cookies or use similar tracking technologies. These include:
- Google Maps — when you use the GPS/map feature to find nearby salons, Google may set cookies as part of its Maps API. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy.
- SMS & Email providers — our notification providers (Twilio, AWS SES) do not set cookies in your browser; they only process contact information you have provided.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any other third-party advertising or social media tracking scripts.
05 Managing & Disabling Cookies
Through Your Browser
Most browsers allow you to control cookies through their settings. You can typically:
- View all cookies stored by a website.
- Delete individual cookies or all cookies for a site.
- Block third-party cookies.
- Block all cookies (note: this will prevent Bookchair from functioning correctly).
Browser-specific instructions:
- Chrome — Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies and other site data.
- Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data.
- Safari — Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data.
- Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies.
Essential Cookies
Essential cookies (like your session and CSRF token) cannot be disabled without breaking the platform. If you disable them, you will not be able to log in or make bookings.
Opting Out of Analytics
You can opt out of our analytics cookie at any time. Email us at support@bookchair.in with the subject "Opt out of analytics" and we will ensure your account is excluded from all analytics tracking.
06 Do Not Track
Some browsers have a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. Bookchair respects DNT signals — when a DNT signal is detected, we will not set any non-essential analytics or preference cookies during that session.
07 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or how we use them. When we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and notify registered users by email.
Your continued use of Bookchair after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Cookie Policy.
